LNA’S “THYME” EP: A Year of Self-Discovery and Growth in a Melodic/Progressive House Grand Finale

Liina Turtonen (aka LNA), an electronic music artist and YouTuber (LNA Does Audio Stuff), based in York, UK.
Her latest EP, Thyme—the culmination of a year-long journey of producing one track each month in 2024.
About the EP Thyme blends atmospheric synths and melodic house, capturing the essence of self-discovery and moments of gratitude. With influences from Ben Böhmer, Christian Löffler, and Nora En Pure, it’s a journey through joy, connection, and reflection. Key tracks like "Thyme" and "Ode to Brian" showcase her unique sound and personal growth.
LNA’s sound blends meditative beats,
dreamy synths, and organic elements like violin and vocals.
Released on December 2nd 2024.
The EP offers a sense of calm and
introspection for moments of reflection, long drives, or
unwinding after a busy day. Fans of melodic house and other
electronic music genres that brings feeling rather than just
energy will connect deeply with LNA’s work.

Two standout tracks on Thyme are Thyme and Ode to Brian.
The title track, Thyme, is a reflection on the randomness of
life, celebrating the present moment and the beauty of time
shared here on this planet.
On the other hand, Ode to Brian
is a deeply personal track dedicated to the renowned
scientist Brian Cox, inspired by his show The Planets. It
translates the sense of relief and hope LNA felt after
watching the show, with the powerful chorus featuring four
synths creating the main powerful and emotional hook.
The EP’s release in last December 2024 is no coincidence. LNA
believes that Thyme is the perfect companion for the colder,
reflective months, when people are seeking both relaxation
and deeper connection. "Many people feel stressed in
December, but there’s also this yearning to relax and reflect.
Thyme provides a soothing escape for those moments. It’s
perfect for runs, driving, or just winding down after a long
day of family time," she says. The EP is designed to be a
soundtrack for those quiet, intimate moments—whether it’s
watching a sunset, driving through the night, or simply
unwinding from the hustle and bustle of the season.
For LNA, this year-long challenge was about more than just
creating music—it was a path to rediscovering herself as an
artist.
LNA says:
"Even though I’ve been creating music for years, I found
myself feeling lost in my sound and artistry," LNA explains. "I
needed to prioritize music and dedicate myself fully to finding
out who I am as an artist."
This EP marks the culmination of that exploration. It’s a
reflection of the growth LNA has undergone in both her
personal and creative life.
The title Thyme is a play on the
word “time,” with a personal twist—LNA, originally from
Finland, would often pronounce the silent “h” in the word
“thyme,” turning it into an inside joke between her and her
husband. It’s a charming, lighthearted moment that
encapsulates the EP’s overall tone: joyful, reflective, and filled
with love.
Thyme is more than just a collection of tracks; it’s a journey
through the randomness of life, space, and time. The EP’s four
tracks bring together a range of emotions—nostalgia,
gratitude, and celebration. With a deep sense of self-
reflection, LNA says:
“The tracks tell the story of my year
—of self-discovery, love, and the
randomness of time. It’s a
celebration of the beauty found in
everyday moments.”
Musically, the EP’s tracks combine lush, atmospheric synths
with meditative yet danceable beats, creating a sound that’s
both introspective and energizing. LNA’s production has
matured throughout the year, reflecting her technical growth.
“This year, I’ve had the opportunity to experiment with new
techniques and tools that helped shape the sound of Thyme.
Using Diva, I crafted rounded, soft arps and pads that gave
the tracks a smoother, more refined texture,” she explains.
The addition of her Eurorack system and further exploration
of external hardware, as well as her violin, has allowed LNA
to create richer, more complex soundscapes, blending
organic and electronic elements in a way that feels both fresh
and timeless.
